MOLESKINE Love

Here's a just a few of my most recent creations from the previous weeks.
I must say I've had a fountain of idea's lately....I blame Pinterest and music :) also the MOLESKINE helps.

I'm gonna tell you a little story before I share my latest works with you first though so get comfortable.

Once upon a time there lived a little girl who liked to draw (but wasn't very good at it)
she had a brother who was a missionary serving far away.
The brother was a very good artist and the little girl looked up to him and hoped she could be as good as him. Some time passed and the brother was back home and the little girl's birthday came up.
He gave her two special gifts, one was a set of Prismacolor pencil colors and the other was a Moleskine brand sketchbook. The little girl loved the presents but was worried about wasting the pencil colors and the Moleskine space so as a result she didn't use them much...

Sooo a bunch of years passed and the little girl kept drawing until she wasn't such a little girl anymore and her artwork was much improved.
At this point she remembered the Moleskine she'd tucked away so long ago (she'd already started using the pencil colors a lot before this) and she decided she was finally good enough to draw in it.
So she pulled it from her closet and began drawing
(but not before cutting out the few pictures I had drawn in it *if you've ever had or are planning on getting a Moleskine I wouldn't recommend doing what I just said I did because it kind hurts the spine....I'm really really harsh and critical of my old art I can't hardly stand looking at it*)

Now I draw in my Moleskine all the time and I've discovered it's definitely the best sketchbook I've ever owned and Thanks to my brother who encouraged my drawing :)

THE END
(or maybe not so much the end.)

And now here the art!

So what are your thoughts, any favorites?
Any idea's for future things I could draw :D
I'd love the input

Surprise!...What is this?

So you're probably wondering what this is and you're thinking, "Sarah, are you writing yet another story?" Well the answer is noooooo...and yes :)
Truth be told this is not a new story, more like the return of an old one...one I was writing a year ago with Anna while she was still known as Storyteller.

I wanted to kick it into motion again and she suggested that we start over again...so this "was" going to be my art for my part of the first chapter...

However after I actually wrote the part I decided it didn't fit anymore and revised it, thus this one is the new official piece :)

When the story is actually posted I'll link to it on here...but for now stay tuned ❤

Oh, and another thing, between the two which drawing is your favorite and why? Do the pictures pique your interest? Do they make you want to read this story? Let me know in comments. :)

Au Revoir
Sarah

New Writer

Greetings fellow adventurers! My name is Cassandra and, like you, I have a passion for art.

Being creative is hard work. From buying supplies, to getting inspiration for your next masterpiece, to getting weird looks when you say exactly where you got your inspiration, to putting your blood, sweat, and tears into a piece of work, to mood swings between absolutely loving your work to absolutely hating it, to not trusting your family's judgement because you think they are biased.... the list goes on and on! I have found that when you share your struggles, not only is it an encouragement to fellow artists to persevere, but it is also provides a chance to take a breather from the stress of our own perfectionistic standards when creating
a piece of art. :)

All that aside, I am excited to chronicle the struggles of an artist and to join you in the journey that only your creativity can take you. And so grab your paintbrushes, paper, and your imagination and join me as we begin our adventure....

1 Year!!!!!

That's right :) It's the 1 Year Anniversary of this blog!
I can't believe this blog has already made the one year mark...seems like just yesterday I, and a bunch of other girls, got together with the purpose of writing a book...but when that fell through I wasn't going to just dump this blog...nope I made it the exclusive site for my art so I could concentrate on other things on my other blog Poetic Meditations....
It makes me happy to see the other artists other than me on here..I hope we can have another great year too  Love you Guys :D

Two Pairs of Heroes in Two Different Worlds

...If the title makes any sense.  Growly again, and I brought here some drawings from an interesting challenge that Sarah and I just did:  a challenge in which we draw each other's characters.  And what's more, our characters are in the style of the artist, which means that the person who's drawing the other person's character draws it in her style.  Er...it's confusing, isn't it?  Then I ought to just show you than explain...

Sarah's version of Hugh.  It's been awhile since I posted a drawing of Hugh, so you can probably tell that his design has changed somewhat.  The drawing looks very similar to the original.  I think how he's portrayed here is very Hugh-ish. :3

Another main character from my story named Destiny.  The first thing that you probably notice is the grayish-white hair; no, she's not older than she looks.  In the story, there is a race of people often referred to as the Enigmas, emotion-sensing and, on some occasions, telekinetic.  And yes, in the story, she does have some telekinetic power.

A character that I drew from Sarah's story named Caleb.  Sarah did a great job with his design (as well as the character below).  I really had fun drawing both of her characters.

Pernisia, another character from Sarah's story.  She looks like a character that is skilled with a bow and arrow.  I don't know about you, but I bet that she could shoot an apple of a tree a mile away!

There ya go!  All four characters.  Hope y'all liked this little post!

Me :)

Shy
     Artistic
            Reader
                 And also writer
Has also a love of music

A typical drawing process

So, last week it was SUPER nice here....like 70 Fahrenheit and OVER!!!
so of course I had to get outside and work on my tan :) haha just kidding but I did get a little darker while I was out there though which is kind of a bonus right :)

Well anyways the real reason I was out was just because of the nice weather and since we've been having some pretty cold temperatures for the majority of this Spring (including snow :(
Well yeah you know, when it warms up you can't spend all day indoors!

So yep I decided I'd do my drawing out there instead, which was fabulous! (oh my goodness did I really just say fabulous!) well it was, so don't judge me :D hehe

anyways here's some pictures I snapped while I was at it,

You might recognize this picture from my header.
Anyways I ended up mostly using the water colors on the right side and left out penning altogether sticking with pencils since I wanted a softer look but you tell me, do you think it would have looked better if I'd penned it? Did you like this drawing, go ahead and shoot me a comment if you did, and if you have any idea's for future drawings go ahead and put that in comments too :D

My Sister :)

So I found this awesome drawing  by Ani on the counter Saturday, and I immediately asked her if I could post it on here, she said yes and so here it is :)

She told me to say that the outfits were from a Target magazine we had, so they aren't originals, but hey! The picture is still awesome!

So what do you guys think :)

Yep so I decided I would finally post some new art on here.

Okay, okay that's the first piece of business the second is this,

If you have any idea's please post them in comments we'd really appreciate it.

Third piece of business, if you haven't already heard I'm having an Art Contest on my other blog Poetic Meditations and if any of you talented girls would like to enter than click on this link and check out the rules and stuff :)

Frozen Fan Art

Hello, again!  Today, I'm showing you all some Frozen fan art that Sarah and I did.  I mean, fan art based on the movie Frozen, not fan art...that's frozen.  That would be pretty weird.  Who would want to defrost a piece of paper, let alone freeze it?  Er, anyway...here they are!

This one is Sarah's.  I think she really did an awesome job drawing the characters!  She also did a great job drawing the logo. :)
My drawing.  For this one, I did Sven and Olaf. :)

So, those are all the drawings for now.  Hope you guys liked them!

Secret Worlds

In which we visit the secret places of our imagination
....
and meet the people who live there

She was soooo fun to draw!!

The title is pretty self explanatory

Our First secret world :)

The second world...this one might get a small story it depends on how it pans out :)
her name is Alley Roswell

that particular picture was inspired by this one I did either last year or the year before that

I think it was originally called, "Into the Book"

Let me ask you girls something..what do these two pictures make you think of when you look at them, what do you think each girl is thinking, and which one draws you in more?
Whoever answers these questions in comments will make an appearance in the story with either their name or a name that they pick out as my way of saying thanks :)

Please do answer :D

From the Depths of Noatbuukia...

Hello, all artistic people of The Artistic Writer blog!  Growly again, and I have brought with me many ancient (and quite outdated) treasures from the great Noatbuuk (get it? Noatbuuk? Notebook? I know, bad pun).  Anyhoo, Sarah had asked me to show her some of my colored drawings, and when she saw them, she suggested posting them here.  So, here are the ancient papers...

An albino gryphon, y'know, a mythical creature with an eagle torso and a lion's heinie.  I intended him to be albino from the start, but as you can see, I started changing my mind a little on the leg, then kinda dropped it...

The mighty Tyrannosaurus Rex! A favorite among many dinosaur fans, the T-Rex is indeed kingly.

A simple drawing of a gray wolf.  The only non-grayscale-looking part in this drawing is the eye.

The majestic king of beasts, the lion.  I know for certain that I had a lot of fun drawing the furry mane. :)  However, the body of the lion seems a little off somehow...

Some drawing of an unnamed, orange...cat-creature of a sort.  Using a fine(and by fine I mean REALLY fine)-tip marker to color this was a real monster of a task, but it was worth it.

Another grayscale picture with only the eye that's colored.  This monstrous creature is what I call a wraido.  I've been working on a graphic novel for awhile (or at least the character designs) and this guy is one of the many creatures that appear in the story.  I doubt you'd want to run into one; they're very, VERY aggressive.

And this one is...a raptor with a melting clock on its head?  This actually is a reference to the Salvador Dali painting called "Persistence of Memory".  And yes, there are many melting clocks in it.
And finally, a drawing of a bird of prey called a kestrel.  One of my favorite predatory birds, the kestrel sure is cute for being a carnivore.  I've actually seen one in the flesh in a nearby nature center, and immediately fell in love with the little guy. :)

So, that's all that I have for now.  I hope you all liked the drawings I did!
